StraightLine Access Guide Now Available

Good access is the key to simplifying endo. Access "paths" guide instruments, gutta percha cones, etc. to canal orifices. The StraightLine Access Guide takes you step by step through the process of a proper and successful access. This six step process teaches you how to access the pulp chamber, locate canal orifices, move mesial canal orifices, flare coronally, remove the entire chamber roof, and how to modify the access for rotary instruments. A complete StraightLine Access Kit with all burs, diamonds, rotary and hand files will be available soon. Contact your sales representative for more information on the kit. This StraightLine Access Guide will come with the kit.

Meet The LightSpeed Experts

Throughout the following months, The ENDO INFORMANT will highlight one of the many LightSpeed "experts". Select issues will profile a co-inventor, an instructor or a clinician from amongst our many LightSpeed users.

Dr. E. Steve Senia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, a former member of the Journal of Endodontics Editorial Board, and a consultant for NASA's space program.

In 1981, Dr. Senia retired from the Air Force as Colonel and Chairman of the Endodontic Department at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. He also served in the Air Force as a pilot. From 1981 until his retirement in 1992, Dr. Senia was Professor and Director of the Postdoctoral Endodontic Program at the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio. Presently, he is a Clinical Professor.

Dr. Senia has lectured extensively in the United States and also in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Central America, South America, Europe and the Middle East. His articles have been published in national and international journals. He is the co-inventor of the LIGHTSPEED root canal instrument.

Special Research Note

Root Canal Preparation with LightSpeed: Examination of 2085 Root Canal Treatments Presented at the Endodontic Society of Europe Meeting, October 2001

Dr. Thomas Rieger and a colleague performed 2085 root canals using LightSpeed. Preparation time per canal averaged 4.3 minutes. They recorded a 96% success rate. This rate of success compares favorably with studies performed by Trope, et al, which suggests that a success rate of 94% is optimal using techniques available today. Instrument separation occurred in 29 cases (1.4%). In the authors' opinion, most of the instrument separation was caused by "mismanagement" in using the instruments more than recommended by our company. Once they recognized this fact and did a better job of tracking usage, the incidence of separation decreased by about 33%. Dr. Rieger summarizes his study as follows: "LightSpeed guarantees a safe and economical root canal preparation technique. With this technique it is possible to prepare any root canal without excessive technical skills regardless of the shape and degree of difficulty."

The Keys to Successful Endo Are Here!

Take a closer look at LightSpeed & SimpliFill by attending a Hands-On Workshop. Our workshops allow you to try it for yourself. You will see how LightSpeed nickel-titanium root canal instruments can easily negotiate curves to the foramen, virtually eliminating chances of zipped, blocked, perforated or ledged canals.

Its unique design provides far better tactile feedback than tapered instruments. Using LightSpeed helps to assure a clean canal… from orifice to apex. You will also use SimpliFill, a root canal obturation system that is so simple you can Master It The Very First Time™.

Benefits include: no heat required, leaves no carrier in canal, half the cost of other systems and no expensive equipment required. Come try it for yourself and tell your colleagues!

In the upcoming months, we are offering courses in the following cities: Dallas, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, Reno, Denver, Phoenix, Boston, San Antonio, New York, Richmond, Baltimore & Memphis.
